Cook Interview Questions for Restaurant:

A restaurant cook is a person who cooks food in a restaurant. A cook, or chef, is usually the head of a kitchen and oversees the other cooks. The cook usually takes orders from waiters and waitresses who bring them to the kitchen.

Example Answer: “Absolutely. Health codes are very important in this industry and I am extremely receptive to learning more about them.”

The interviewer here is trying to get a feel of the interviewee’s level of patience and the ability to handle criticism. The readiness to rectify the wrong is also assessed.

Example Answer: “I will assess the situation and do my best to fix it for our customers. Our customers want their meal to be perfect and be satisfied with it. I’ll always meet the customer’s needs to the best of my ability.”

Q3) If you found the kitchen understaffed during a rush, how would you handle it?

The interviewer here is trying to find your ability to handle any situation with minimum stress.

Example Answer: One of the best things you can do to plan ahead is work out what needs to happen in different scenarios. For example, you could make a list of who would cover which areas when your team members are away. If I find that we are short-staffed, I first assess the situation. What station is lacking, and who on staff has the skills and ability to cover that station? I will then shift responsibilities accordingly.

A cook for a household would have to face basic kitchen interview questions that adhere to the available cook jobs in any city. Some commonly asked questions are:

The household interviewer here wants to understand what other house chores you could do and help them out with, apart from cooking.

Example Answer: “I am good at cleaning the house, doing the clothes and utensils, but I choose to cook exclusively due to time constraints as I have personal commitments too. However, in times of need, I can help out with all other house chores.”

Q2) Have you worked in single homes or gated communities?

The household interviewer here wants to understand if you have an idea about working in smaller families and larger families.

Example Answer: “I have worked in all sizes of families and hence have a good knowledge of preparing the right amount of food.”

Q3) Would you bring your kids to work?

The household interviewer here wants to understand if you have someone to take care of the kids and family in your absence.

Example Answer: “No, I will not be bringing them to the workplace.”

Q4) Do you have any health issues?

The household interviewer here wants to understand if you are physically fit and also would want to know about frequent leaves.

Example Answer: “No, I am healthy at most times.”

Example Answer: “I would need two paid leaves in a month and will not be taking any other leaves apart from that”

Q6) What dish do you cook the best?

The interviewer wants to understand if you have any particular dish that you are amazing at and will want you to cook that someday

Answer: You have to choose an honest answer as they will be asking you to cook it frequently. Example: South Indian dishes or Pasta, etc.

Answer: Yes
